A one-page summary for reviewers. Everything here describes a prototype and a proposal — no pilot has run, and no organisation has endorsed or approved this work.
PlayLah Safe
Play together. Learn safely.
Problem
- • Children meet screens years before they can read a warning.
- • Caregivers get either locked-down blockers or open-ended, ad-funded content.
- • Digital-safety habits are taught late, usually after something has gone wrong.
Experience
- • Caregiver-led co-play: adult sets up, adult and child play together for 3–8 minutes.
- • Three mini activities, each following Watch Together → Tap Together → Talk Together.
- • Safety practice as a routine children can chant: Stop → Ask a Grown-Up → Tell What Happened.
- • Adult surfaces for setup, observations, lesson review and a scripted guide.
Safeguards
- • No open chat, uploads, ads, purchases, public profiles or external child links.
- • No microphone, camera, location, analytics or live model calls anywhere.
- • Adult gate plus explicit consent, both default OFF, guarding every child route.
- • Session-only state, one-tap deletion, human safeguarding escalation, audit-ready records.
Pilot metrics (illustrative targets, not results)
- • Share of sessions completed with an adult present.
- • Number of caregiver–child conversations prompted per week.
- • Recall of the three safety steps, observed by the adult, not scored by the app.
- • Consent withdrawals and deletion requests honoured within one working day.
Next-step co-design
- • Co-design sessions with preschool educators and caregivers across language groups.
- • Independent safeguarding and accessibility review before any pilot.
- • PDPA-ready design considerations documented with a DPIA-style assessment.
- • Small supervised pilot with opt-in centres, then published learnings.
Status and limitations
- • Visual prototype with local demo content only; all lessons and names are fictional.
- • No database, authentication, analytics, external API or live AI model.
- • Metrics shown are illustrative targets, not measured results.
- • PDPA-ready design considerations only — not certified, compliant or approved.
- • No endorsement by any person, agency, school or programme is implied.
